From the cobblestone streets of Quito to the heart of the Amazon and the wildlife-rich shores of the Galápagos, this hosted family adventure is designed for travelers who want more than a vacation. It’s a chance to explore volcanoes, rainforests, rivers, and islands that changed the way we understand life on Earth.

A strong fit for anyone age 5 and up. It’s a longer trip with a mix of city, rainforest, and island days, so a bit more stamina helps.

Up to 10 families, about 40 travelers total, same as our other hosted trips. We keep it small on purpose, so it stays personal.

The working plan is about 11 days: a couple of nights in Quito, a few days in the Amazon, and several days sailing the Galápagos.

Airfare to Quito is on your own.

Activity level

Moderate to active. Expect city walking in Quito, rainforest hikes and night activities in the Amazon, and snorkeling or boat rides in the Galápagos. No hard core hiking required.

Here is a taste of what our plan looks like right now. This is still tentative and will firm up as we finalize dates and activities together.

Ecuador is one of the few places on Earth where you can stand in a UNESCO World Heritage city, soak in Andean hot springs, canoe through the Amazon rainforest, and snorkel beside sea lions in the Galápagos — all in a single journey.

We built this itinerary for curious families who love wildlife, culture, and hands-on discovery.

Day 1: Welcome to Ecuador – Where Curiosity Begins

Welcome to Ecuador! Meet your hosts and settle into Quito before gathering for a relaxed Welcome Dinner. Meet fellow travelers, share the excitement ahead and discover why this small country holds some of the greatest natural and cultural diversity on Earth.

Day 2: Walking Through History

Step into Quito's UNESCO World Heritage center, where every plaza, church and cobblestone street reveals a new story. Follow hidden details, colorful traditions and local flavors as Ecuador's history comes alive around every corner.

Day 3: From Volcanoes to the Rainforest

Travel east across the Andes, stopping to relax in the thermal waters of Papallacta before descending into the Amazon. Watch the landscape transform before boarding a canoe along the Napo River to your jungle lodge.

Day 4: Into the Heart of the Amazon

Navigate the Napo River, hike through primary rainforest with expert naturalists and visit AmaZOOnico Wildlife Rescue Center. Later, share traditions with a Kichwa community and discover how culture and nature have always been deeply connected.

Day 5: Explore, Build & Discover

Search for wildlife along rainforest trails, learn about medicinal plants and build a traditional balsa raft before floating the Napo River. End the day surrounded by colorful butterflies and one of nature's most remarkable life cycles.

Day 6: Across Two Worlds

Say goodbye to the rainforest and return to Quito, crossing cloud forests and Andean mountains once again. One journey, two completely different ecosystems and countless discoveries waiting to be remembered.

Day 7: The Islands That Changed Science (San Cristobal Island)

Fly to the Galapagos and board your expedition ship. Visit the Interpretation Center before hiking to Frigatebird Hill, where your first close wildlife encounters reveal why these islands continue to inspire explorers from around the world.

Day 8: Wild Encounters (Espanola Island)

Walk the white sands of Gardner Bay, snorkel with playful sea lions, paddle by kayak and explore Española's dramatic coastline. Every trail, beach and snorkeling stop offers unforgettable opportunities to observe wildlife living completely undisturbed.

Day 9: Ocean Explorers (Floreana Island)

Continue an old seafarers' tradition at the historic Post Office Barrel before exploring Floreana's lagoons, beaches and crystal-clear waters. Snorkel or glide above vibrant marine life while discovering one of the Pacific's richest underwater worlds.

Day 10: Life on Lava (Santa Cruz Island - Mosquera Islet)

Walk across ancient lava flows at Dragon Hill searching for marine iguanas, flamingos and unique island plants. Later, land on Mosquera Islet for close encounters with sea lions before snorkeling among the abundant marine life.

Day 11: The Gentle Giants (Santa Cruz Island)

Visit the Santa Cruz Highlands to observe wild Giant Tortoises roaming freely in their natural habitat. A final wildlife encounter brings your Ecuador expedition to a memorable close before returning home filled with new stories and discoveries.
Return to Quito, and connect with your International departure flight.

We recommend booking your tickets as early as possible to avoid unexpected cost increases once you’re confirmed as going on this trip.
All services are subject to availability at the time of booking. Confirmation is guaranteed only upon receipt of a deposit. Payment is accepted via wire transfer or credit card (4% surcharge).
A valid passport with at least six months’ validity from the date of entry and sufficient blank pages is required. It is the traveler’s responsibility to verify and obtain necessary visas.

This is a small, hosted group trip, so you get the ease of a group departure with private, family focused planning. I handle the logistics so you can just show up and be present with your kids.
Fill out the interest form on this page and I will follow up personally to talk through dates, pricing, and next steps. A deposit holds your family’s spot once we are ready to confirm.
We do not have a firm cutoff date yet since we are still finalizing the itinerary and pricing. Once we set a Go or No Go date, we will let everyone know well in advance and walk through what your options are for your deposit and next steps.

A 20% of your total deposit holds your spot once we confirm the trip is a go. Final balance is due 65 days ahead of the trip. Insurance is due immediately when you purchase it.
Every traveling party is responsible for their own entry requirements. That means a valid passport with enough blank pages, and one that does not expire within 6 months of your travel dates, plus any visas required for the destination. I am glad to point you toward the right resources, but the passport and visa itself is on you to handle.
