TUSCANY, ITALY · BEST APRIL-JUNE & SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER

Florence

Walkable, gorgeous, and packed with experiences that go so far beyond the museums.

Why we love it

Take a leather-making class: one of the most unique and memorable experiences we've done anywhere in Europe

The cathedral (Duomo) illuminated at night is one of the most beautiful sights in the world

Florence can be an ideal base for exploring all of Tuscany for day trips to wine country, hilltop towns, and the coast are easy from here

Florence is almost entirely walkable, so you can cover so much of the city on foot with kids!

It has the most charming streets, beautiful architecture, and detail around every corner

Truly world-class shopping, especially the leather market and artisan boutiques

Our tip

Book a cooking class and a food tour as a non-negotiable. Both experiences will completely change how you think about Italian food, and they give the kids something hands-on to do that they'll talk about for years. For the cathedral, go back after dark: the Duomo lit up at night is worth a second trip out just to see it.

This guide walks through all of it so you're not making a decision based on a pretty picture and a price tag. Know what you actually want before you book.

Luxury Travel Guide
$0.00

"What's the best hotel?" is one of the most common questions and also the least useful place to start. Luxury travel is about fit, timing, and how well the trip is planned before you ever board the plane. This guide covers what that actually looks like across three phases: before you book, building the itinerary, and on the ground. It includes a pre-trip planning checklist with timelines, questions worth asking before you book anything, a glossary of terms that actually matter, and the real reason over-scheduling kills a luxury trip just as fast as under-planning. For anyone spending real money on travel and wanting it to feel effortless, not just expensive.
