Hard Rock Los Cabos: Our Home Away From Home

‍We first heard about this resort from a destination wedding group I booked back in 2024. Everyone came home raving, and they were right. Hard Rock Los Cabos knows how to do both things at once: keep three kids entertained and still feel like a real vacation for the adults. From the options of pools to the massive beach that was so cool to stand and watch the pacific coast waves, we were never bored.

The food covered every picky-eater objection we could throw at it, and the drinks needed zero effort to track down. But the real MVP was the coffee bar. Every morning before the kids fully woke up, I had five quiet minutes with a good espresso and a pastry that made the whole trip feel a little more like an escape and a little less like parenting somewhere new.

Adventures on Land and Sea!

The sky went through every shade of orange on the way down. Rae and Joy hung over the railing trying to spot animals, and I may have hummed a little too much Kenny Chesney under my breath. There's a version of Cabo that's all pool days and resort food, and there's this version: quiet water, a boat, three kids finally sitting still for once. Both are good. This one is the one you remember. Especially when I accidentally lost a favorite pair of my sunglasses to the sea that day. Jed jokes that the sea lions have them now!

‍We also embarked on a small boat whale watching tour. There is just something about seeing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat was an awe-inspiring experience for all of us and created memories we'll cherish forever. Honestly, I was not super hopeful of spotting one because April can be the end of the season for seeing them so we were all so excited that we got the chance to spot a few! I loved seeing them come up and then watching where they would go next since they went under minutes at a time!

WHALE WATCHING TIP: Spring break lines up with peak gray whale season off the Baja Peninsula. Book a small-boat tour rather than a large catamaran if you want to feel close to the water and the whales; smaller boats get you nearer without the crowd.

The Perfect Desert & Beach Escape

Back at the resort, the pools did exactly what pools are supposed to do: soak up entire afternoons with zero complaints from anyone. The beach at Hard Rock Los Cabos is stunning, wide and golden, but the Pacific swell runs strong here, and swimming isn't always in the cards. It didn't matter. The kids turned the shoreline into a cartwheel contest and ran from waves bigger than anything they'd seen on the Gulf or the Atlantic. Nobody missed the ocean swim once they realized how much fun you can have just staying out of the water's way. There was locals selling things on the beach, but none were pushy and they did not cross onto the property. So if you’re looking to avoid that, the pool is your place to be!
